OBWB wanting municipalities to be consistent with drought messaging
The water protection advocacy agency is wanting to see more consistency in how local municipalities put out messaging about drought conditions.
With the River Forecast Centre reporting that the Okanagan’s snowpack was 58 per cent of normal as of April 1, the Okanagan Basin Water Board (OBWB) said the region should be preparing for another dry summer.
With that consideration in mind, the OBWB Board of Directors determined there should be clear and consistent between municipalities in the region in regards to drought and water restriction communication.
The Board acknowledged that each municipality has their own drought triggers tailored to their unique water systems, but still believed that messaging should be aligned across the region.
