Destination Silver Star recognized for environmental, sustainability work

The group that promotes the local mountain resort has received a prestigious award.

Destination Silver Star was recognized with a Biosphere Certification from the Responsible Tourism Institute.

The certification was awarded following an independent, comprehensive review of how the organization operates in alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Destination Silver Star said this was not based on a self-supported checklist, but a more specific criteria set out by the UN.

The group touted its work supporting local businesses, protecting the environment, and promoting the community it serves as being key components it hit to receive this certification.
