Too Good to Waste

Local campaign launched to promote water conservation, waste reduction

Mar 25, 2026 | 6:02 AM

A new initiative has been launched to promote sustainability .

The Regional District of North Okanagan said the water resources and landfill space are limited, and has started a new Too Good to Waste campaign to promote water conservation and waste reduction.

“If the over 98,000 people in the North Okanagan took just one additional action each day to conserve water or reduce waste, it would add up to over 35 million additional actions in just one year!” the RDNO said in its announcement about the campaign.

“Small steps really do add up, and the more we make them part of our routine, the easier they become.”

The Too Good to Waste campaign will try to reach out to people through enhanced webpages, social media content, and educational materials with tips to recue the waste people create and the water they use. Those tips can be found at the RDNO’s website.
