Local search and rescue group benefiting from Gaming Grants

The agency that helps people in need of rescue in the backcountry is getting some financial aid.

Air Rescue One Heli Winch Society, which is based out of Vernon and directly supports Vernon and other nearby Search and Rescue groups, was awarded $17,000 through the provincial Community Gaming Grants program.

The Heli Winch Society was one of 39 organizations to benefit from the most recent funding allocation through the program.

Other area groups that received funds were the Project Literacy Central Okanagan Society ($27,851), and Autism Okanagan Association ($180,000).
