Funtastic ready for 40th annual softball tournament and music festival

The annual softball tournament and outdoor concert series turns 40 this summer.

Funtastic will celebrate its 40th year with the slo pitch and music festival at the DND Grounds and Grahame Park ball diamonds June 26 through 29.

Organizers said team registration had been strong so far and that several divisions were already sold out as hundreds of ball players are set to converge on Vernon for the tourney.

They also added that Saturday will feature the skills competitions including the home run derby, fastest runner challenge, and pitching accuracy contest.

The festival will have a Neon Vibes theme, bringing a splash of colour and excitement to the celebrations.

The slo pitch tournament and music fest also supports the community. Over the past 40 years Funtastic has contributed over $2.7-million towards the development of the DND ball diamonds; lighting upgrades at Marshall Fields tennis courts ; playground construction; purchasing new scoreboards for Marshall Fields, Lake view Park and the Active Living Centre; and support to local non-profit sports groups through the Funtastic Community Grant Program.

Funtastic will also be celebrated throughout the community as Vernon Lawn Bowling and Vernon Cornhole will host concurrent tournaments over the weekend
