RCMP seek witnesses after cyclist struck by SUV
West Kelowna RCMP are asking for the public’s help following a hit-and-run involving a cyclist on Monday evening.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Feb. 23, a red Hyundai Tucson travelling south on Westlake Road stopped at a red light at the intersection with Highway 97. According to police, the driver yelled at a cyclist who was also stopped at the light before aggressively advancing the vehicle and striking the cyclist, knocking him off his bike. The SUV then fled the scene.
Cst. MacDonald-Miles, the lead investigator, said police are seeking the identity of the cyclist and any witnesses to the incident.
The cyclist is described as a young man, possibly 17 to 20 years old, around six feet tall, with no facial hair. He was wearing all-black clothing and riding a black mountain or electric bike.
