No ties in recent string of fires: RCMP

Vernon has seen a number of fires over the past few months, though they don’t appear to be linked.

That’s according to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

There have been several major fires in and around Vernon since late-December including the blaze at a warehouse in the Okanagan Landing area, a fire that destroyed vehicles at Vernon Kia, a multi-vehicle fire at the ICBC lot, a blaze that leveled a house on 28th Street, and a kitchen fire inside the Silverstar Brewing Company.

Vernon Matters asked the local police if there was any evidence linking these incidents or if these were done by a serial arsonist, but they say that’s not the case.

“From our investigations, nothing has been found that would indicate the [fire] events are related,” Chris Terleski, Media Relations Officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said in an email.

Many of these incidents remain under investigation as of time of publication.
