Kelowna launches rebate program to boost business security

Feb 26, 2026 | 11:01 AM

The City of Kelowna is offering financial support to help local businesses improve security.

A new rebate program aimed at creating safer commercial areas launches March 2, 2026.

The Business Security Enhancement Rebate Program provides eligible businesses with a one-time rebate of up to $3,000 for pre-approved security upgrades, including reinforced doors and windows, exterior cameras, and lighting improvements recommended through a free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design assessment.

“Business owners deserve to know their city is standing with them,” said Mayor Tom Dyas. “As we continue pushing for the systemic changes needed to address the root causes of crime, this rebate program delivers immediate, on-the-ground support to help businesses protect their people and property.”

The program is limited to a total funding envelope of roughly $200,000.

Kevin Duggan, Community Safety Services manager, said the initiative responds to concerns from local business owners and aims to provide “practical, immediate support that helps businesses protect their staff, customers, and property.”
