Kelowna launches $87M plan to upgrade 55 roads, transit and bike projects
Kelowna residents can look forward to smoother and safer travel this year as the city moves ahead with 55 transportation projects.
About half of these are already under construction or carried over from last year, while the rest are in planning and design.
Brittany Hallam, manager of the city’s Integrated Transportation Department, said the projects will make it easier to get around and keep neighbourhoods connected. The city has set aside nearly $87 million for roads, transit, bike lanes and sidewalks in 2026.
Key projects include extensions and upgrades on Burtch Road, Hollywood Road, Glenmore Road and Lakeshore Road to improve safety and traffic flow. Downtown, work continues on Bertram Street to add a protected two-way bike lane, wider sidewalks and safer intersections, linking the new Highway 97 bridge to the UBCO campus.
