Interior Health is reminding residents across northeastern British Columbia and the wider Interior that mental health supports are available following the deadly tragedy in Tumbler Ridge.

In a statement released Tuesday, Interior Health said its thoughts are with the Tumbler Ridge community as people cope with the emotional impacts of the event. Officials noted that incidents of this nature can affect not only those directly involved, but also families, first responders, and communities across the region.

A range of crisis and mental health services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. Those seeking immediate support can contact the Interior Crisis Line Network at 1-888-353-2273 or the Suicide Crisis Helpline by calling or texting 988.

Additional supports include the KUU-US Indigenous Crisis Line at 1-800-588-8717, the Metis Crisis Line at 1-833-638-4722, and Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868. Interior Health encourages anyone experiencing distress to reach out and seek help.
