Digital permitting process expanded in Vernon

Residents, businesses and developers are able to more easily access municipal services.

The City of Vernon has expanded its digital permitting system to now include business licenses, sign permits, property information requests, and road usage permits.

“Over the past year, the City’s Business Improvement team has made significant progress transitioning from paper-based systems to streamlined digital applications,” the City of Vernon said in a release.

“Using a deliberate, phased approach, the team began by digitizing simpler permit types to ensure a positive and user-friendly customer experience before advancing to more complex approvals.”

The municipality added that digitizing these processes reduce paperwork, shorten wait times, and create “a more consistent and predictable experience for applicants.”

Looking ahead, the City of Vernon plans to start offering Building Permit applications through the online portal in March, followed by digitizing Development Permits later in the year.
