Sicamous man “dumbfounded” with jackpot win at Vernon casino

A Sicamous man is a millionaire after striking gold at the casino in Vernon.

B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC) said a man identified only as Pierre B. was visiting with a friend and having a meal at the Match Eatery when he noticed the Powerbucks Whitney Houston slot game on the floor of the Lake City Casino.

Pierre had tried this game at a different casino site before and decided to test his luck in Vernon, where he wound up winning the jackpot of $1,675,818.32.

“After I ate, I sat at it and a few minutes later I won,” Pierre told BCLC.

“I was dumbfounded and thought, ’This isn’t happening.’ I thought I was going to drop to the floor.”

Pierre recently retired, and is reportedly planning to use some of his winnings to buy his son a new car and relocate to Vancouver Island in the near future so he can “go to the beach and pick shells… slow life down a bit.”
