A pair of devoted volunteers who promote people getting out and active despite their age or capabilities have been recognized for their hard work.

Junior Chamber International Vernon named Annie and Gerald Gustafson as their Good Citizen(s) of the Year for 2025.

The Gustafsons have spent years volunteering with groups in Vernon, including the Okanagan Quality of Life Society, where they played key roles in launching the ‘Heaven Can Wait’ program that takes seniors and people with disabilities out on boat tours on Okanagan Lake.

“It seems now more than ever, we need reminders of people who act selflessly and never hesitate to give back,” said Dustin Grillin, JCI Vernon Good Citizen co-chair.

“It’s a privilege to read the nominations that come in and see how people’s lives are touched every day by individuals who act for others and the betterment of our community.”

As part of the honour, Kidston Helm Ross Lawyers LLP will make a donation of $500 to a charity chosen by the Gustafsons.
