Poll suggests early voter sentiment changing in Kelowna mayoral race

Jan 21, 2026 | 10:25 AM

The municipal election is nine months away, but new polling shows incumbent Mayor Tom Dyas facing early challenges from potential Conservative candidates.

A Pallas Data survey conducted December 19 and 20 among 290 Kelowna adults finds former city councillor Tracy Gray leading Dyas in a head-to-head scenario, with just over 30 per cent support compared to Dyas under 17 per cent. In a separate test, former Conservative MP Ron Cannan also holds a lead, signalling growing voter interest in alternatives at City Hall.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.8 per cent and highlights early voter preferences and suggests sentiment amongst the local electorate could shift.

Neither Gray nor Cannan has officially declared a campaign, but the results reflect rising Conservative energy in the city.
