A major infrastructure project in Enderby has wrapped up.

The City of Enderby said the new lower reservoir has been completed and became fully operational on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

This is one of two reservoirs supporting drinking water and fire protection systems for Enderby and select consumers in the Splatsin First Nation and Electoral Area F. It replaces an old reservoir where significant structural failure related to age and condition were identified in a routine inspection.

The City of Enderby said the new reservoir was built using a modern, two-cell facility to meet the health, safety and engineering standards for drinking water infrastructure. It was also sized to accommodate future community growth and enhance available fire flows.

“This project is a major investment in the health and safety of our community. Completing the new Lower Reservoir gives us confidence that our drinking water system is reliable, resilient, and ready to support both existing residents and future growth,” said Enderby Mayor Huck Galbraith.

“I’m very proud of the work that’s been done and grateful to the team who worked together to deliver this essential piece of infrastructure for Enderby.”

As the new system came online, the City of Enderby was also able to lift its Stage 2 Watering Restrictions Wednesday.
