Work underway to mitigate wildfire risk at Ellison Park

A wildfire risk reduction project is underway at Ellison Park.
The City of Vernon said crews would be at the park through April thinning, limbing, clearing and piling wildfire fuels at the park on the south end of Eastside Road.
These materials will be disposed of through controlled burns. These will cause smoke to be visible, but the city said they will be done carefully and monitored, and will only be done when weather and site conditions are suitable.
The wildfire risk reduction project is fully funded by the Forest Enhancement Society of B.C.
