Special ceremony will be held to recognize world-class wheelchair curler from Spallumcheen

A special ceremony will be held to recognize Spallumcheen resident Ina Forrest Monday.

Forrest is being inducted into the Canadian Disability Hall of Fame.

She has also been named co-captain for Team Canada during the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games and is one of six Paralympians who serving on Canada’s Athlete Leadership Team.

The Spallumcheen resident is a world-class wheelchair curler who was instrumental in Team Canada’s gold medal wins in the 2014 Paralympic Games, as well as the bronze medal wins at the 2018 and 2022 games.

The Township of Spallumcheen will host a special ceremony to recognize Forrest’s contributions to Canadian sport and her leadership on the national stage at the municipal hall at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15.
