Silver Star Freestyle Club raising money for a new air-bag training site

The local freestyle ski group is raising money for a brand new, off-season training equipment.

Silver Star Freestyle Club wants to establish an Air-Bag Training Site, where the athletes can practice their skiing and snowboarding skills when the snow is not flying.

“This facility will allow our athletes to have access to training year-round,” Carson Dorward, President of the Silver Star Freestyle Club, stated.

“Athletes can work on their jumps and qualifiers during the off-season, so they are prepared when winter arrives. This facility also offers an invitation to other freestyle athletes from across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest to come and train at Silver Star, creating a destination for the sport in our region.”

The group still needs to purchase a state-of-the-art landing bag for this facility, and to support this endeavour the freestyle club is running a 50/50 and an online raffle with approximately $20,000 worth of prizes donated from various sponsors.

People can purchase their 50/50 and raffle tickets online here. The winners will be announced on March 29.

“Community support has been instrumental in making this project a reality,” Dorward said.

“We’re incredibly grateful for all the involvement to date, and we invite everyone to continue supporting our athletes and this one-of-a-kind facility in Western Canada. With the completion of this project, we’ll have two bags, rails, and trampoline facilities all in one location, giving our athletes everything they need to excel.”
