Water Main Break

Water Quality Advisory issued following water main break in Vernon

Dec 10, 2025 | 2:17 PM

A Water Quality Advisory has been issued for several properties following a water main break Wednesday afternoon.

Greater Vernon Water (GVW) and the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) said the water main break led to a loss of water pressure for properties between 749 and 1094 Pottery Road, for 1102 Pottery Road, for 2198 Francis Street, and for properties between 975 and 1243 Mountview Road.

The RDNO said the water main break resulted in a loss of water pressure, though the break was being repaired and flushing was expected to be completed late Wednesday.

The treatment levels in the system were maintained, but people may still wish to bring tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to prepare food or drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing teeth.

The RDNO said the break may have resulted in some properties experiencing reduced water pressure, discolouration, or air in their water. In these instances, people were advised to run a cold tap until the water turns clear, with the RDNO saying it’s best to do this using an outdoor tap.
