Partial Opening Dec. 11

Silver Star to open some alpine runs Thursday

Dec 10, 2025 | 12:14 PM

After a few delays due to low snowpack, the local ski hill is ready to open.

SilverStar Mountain Resort announced it will be opening its alpine ski and snowboard runs Thursday, Dec. 11.

“Snow conditions have improved and we are ready to kick-off the Winter 2025/26 Season with goodies at the gondola for those who are up early!” SilverStar said in its announcement.

“Lifts start turning at 8:30 a.m.”

The ski hill had originally planned to open on November 28, then pushed the opening date to Dec. 5, though the snowpack was still not suitable at that point and the opening was delayed once again.

SilverStar did note that “conditions are marginal and we will have limited terrain open,” with only the Gondola, Silver Queen Chair, and Discovery Carpet running Thursday. It did note however that the Silver Queen Terrain Park would be open with limited rails and features, and that night skiing would happen on Friday and Saturday.

The mountain resort plans to announce the opening of additional terrain once more snow has fallen.
