One person deceased in Highway 1 crash

Dec 8, 2025 | 3:33 PM

One person died following a collision on the Trans Canada Highway.

RCMP say a Buick sedan was heading west on Highway 1 when it crossed the centre line and collided head on with a tractor trailer.

Mounties said the driver of the truck attempted to get out the way, but was unable to avoid the collision, which occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7.

First responders attended the scene and pronounced the driver of the Buick deceased at the scene. The highway was closed until just after midnight as police investigated the crash.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries, and was reportedly cooperating in the police investigation.

“The Salmon Arm RCMP would like to offer their condolences to the friends and family of the person who died,” Cpl. Brett Urano, RCMP spokesperson, stated.

“We would like to always remind the public to slow down and drive to the conditions. Additionally, please remember to use winter tires this winter.”
