Kelowna ready to host Olympic curling qualifiers

Dec 5, 2025 | 11:57 AM

Kelowna will be at the centre of the curling world this month as the Olympic Qualification Event gets underway at the Kelowna Curling Club.

The competition runs Dec. 5 to 18 and will determine the final entries for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Two Olympic spots are still available in each of the women’s, men’s and mixed doubles tournaments.

Eight teams will battle for those berths in women’s and men’s play. Mixed doubles features 16 teams split into two groups. Nations that missed direct Olympic qualification through world championship points or as host country will get one last shot here.

Canada is not involved as they have already qualified for the Olympics.

Round-robin games for the men and women go first, with playoffs scheduled for Dec. 10 and 11. Mixed doubles follows from Dec. 13 to 18, wrapping with two high-stakes qualification matchups.

The event will stream on the Curling Channel, with regional broadcast restrictions in place. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament.

With Olympic dreams on the line, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest international events ever staged at the Kelowna Curling Club.
