Greater Vernon will see a lot of investments into assets in the coming year.

A report to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee (GVAC) stated that it had over $39,500,000 worth of projects planned for 2026, though those would be majorly offset by a $20-million grant for one of the projects.

The projects planned for 2026 involved:

  • Mission Hill Water Treatment Plant Filtration, $30,000,000 (with $20,000,000 in grant funding, $7,370,000 from capital reserves and $2,630,000 from Development Cost Charges)
  • Pottery Rd – 15 St to Hwy 6 – Construction – Pipe Replacement, $2,613,660 (with $63,660 carried over from 2025)

  • PRV1 (pressure relief valve) Assessment and Improvements, $50,000
  • Coldstream Town Centre Sewer – Replace Giles Dr Water Main and Abandon Redundant Whetzell Dr and De Jong Water Mains, $50,000

The report noted the total investment associated with the 2026 projects were $95,000 lower than previously thought, as the Regional District of North Okanagan had higher than projected cost estimates for some pipe replacement work.

The proposed Greater Vernon capital projects in 2026 were part of a larger five year plan that would see a total of $110,353,684 invested in assets by 2030.

The report on the 2026 capital projects was presented to GVAC at the meeting Wednesday, Dec. 3. It was endorsed at that meeting and will be brought forward again as part of the 2026 Financial Plan.
