Over $39.5M in Greater Vernon capital projects planned for 2026
Greater Vernon will see a lot of investments into assets in the coming year.
A report to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee (GVAC) stated that it had over $39,500,000 worth of projects planned for 2026, though those would be majorly offset by a $20-million grant for one of the projects.
The projects planned for 2026 involved:
- Mission Hill Water Treatment Plant Filtration, $30,000,000 (with $20,000,000 in grant funding, $7,370,000 from capital reserves and $2,630,000 from Development Cost Charges)
- Pottery Rd – 15 St to Hwy 6 – Construction – Pipe Replacement, $2,613,660 (with $63,660 carried over from 2025)
- Residential Meter Replacement, $1,650,000
- 19 Ave and 20 Ave – 19 St to 22 St – Pipe Replacement, $1,348,352 (with $18,352 carried over)
- 43 Ave and Alexis Park Dr – Pipe Replacement – Phase 3 Construction, $1,266,606 (with $496,608 carried over)
- 18 Ave – 15 St to W – Pipe Replacement, $710,051 (with $35,051 carried over)
- 27 Avenue Rail Crossing Project – Casing and Pipe Main Replacement in Railway Extents, $350,680 (with $300,680 carried over)
- Contingency, $350,000
- Creek Crossing Repair at 34 Ave, $276,750 (with $16,750 carried over)
- Kalamalka Lake Rd & Pottery Rd: Pipe Abandonment, $265,249 (with $220,000 carried over and $5,249 coming from developer or other contributions)
- 31 St: 43 Ave Intersection to 120m north – Pipe Replacement, $248,260 (with $78,260 carried over)
- Purchase SROWs (statutory right of ways), $100,000
- Goose Lake Intake Valve Station – Valve Replacement, $75,000
- Allenby Cres and Allenby Way – Pipe Replacement, $50,000
- East Vernon Rd – Mountview Rd to Pottery Rd, Decosmos Rd, and Downie Rd – Pipe Replacement, $50,000
- 30 St – 15 Ave to 18 Ave – Pipe Replacement, $50,000
- PRV1 (pressure relief valve) Assessment and Improvements, $50,000
- Coldstream Town Centre Sewer – Replace Giles Dr Water Main and Abandon Redundant Whetzell Dr and De Jong Water Mains, $50,000
