Dec 2, 2025 | 10:40 AM

Big White Resort is preparing to welcome skiers and snowboarders this week.

The popular resort will officially open Thursday, December 4, after eight centimetres of fresh snow fell overnight in the lower slopes. The resort will open with limited runs, including Ridge Rocket, Bullet, Plaza chairlifts, and the gondola, and ski patrol will mark trails that are safe for visitors.

Skiers and snowboarders are advised to follow ski patrol instructions and stay on designated runs.

Riders can find more information on conditions, hours and runs here.

Other resorts in the region are also getting ready for the season.

Silver Star near Vernon plans to open Friday, with new runs opening in Putnam Creek (the Backside) with the new “Dandy Glades” area, bringing the resort’s run count up to 133.

Apex Mountain has postponed its start to December 6.

Sun Peaks near Kamloops and Baldy Mountain outside Oliver are already open.
