Flight delays ripple through Kelowna as Calgary storm disrupts air travel
Travellers moving through Kelowna International Airport (YLW) faced delays and cancellations Monday as a winter storm in Calgary created widespread travel disruptions across Western Canada.
By mid-morning, more than a dozen departures from Kelowna were either delayed or cancelled, with several inbound flights also affected. The issues appear to be linked to heavy snowfall at Calgary International Airport, where crews halted all arrivals and departures earlier in the day to clear runways and taxiways.
Officials in Calgary said the pause was necessary to maintain safe operations as crews worked to remove significant snow accumulation.
Vernon Matters has reached out to YLW for comment on the extent of the local impact and whether additional delays are anticipated.
