Vernon residents asked to provide input on the new OCP

Nov 18, 2025 | 11:13 AM

Vernon residents have one last chance to provide their input on the community growth strategy.

The city has updated its new Official Community Plan (OCP), and is running its final engagement period on the major planning document with an Open House event.

That will be held at the council chambers in city hall starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, November 24.

People who cannot attend the open house can provide written submissions by emailing phearings@vernon.ca or by dropping off a physical copy at city hall.

The OCP is a long-term planning document that outlines strategies for managing population and community growth over the next two decades. Included in the plan are directions for land use and development for housing and commercial uses; transportation; parks and trails; culture; and environmental protection.

The draft OCP can be seen online here.

Vernon City Council is expected to adopt the OCP Bylaw on December 15 in order to meet a provincial deadline.
