Kelowna landfill tipping fees set to rise in 2026

Nov 18, 2025 | 11:14 AM

Kelowna City Council has approved changes to the Solid Waste Management Bylaw that will increase tipping fees at the Glenmore Landfill beginning January 1, 2026.

Wood waste will rise from $25 to $30 per tonne, shingles from $150 to $170 per tonne, and mattresses from $15 to $18 each. Wholesale compost rates will also increase, with prices varying by cubic yards purchased and location.

Regular garbage tipping fees will remain at $106 per tonne in 2026, with a scheduled increase to $108 per tonne on January 1, 2027. City officials said the adjustments reflect inflation and rising operating costs. Minimum charges will not change.
