Local transit fare to be reviewed in mid-2026

Bus riders may see fares increase in the near future.

A report from the District of Coldstream said the COVID-19 pandemic led to transit fares being frozen for several years, but the provincial order guiding that freeze has ended.

The report stated the fares for transit service in Vernon, Coldstream and the Regional District of North Okanagan have not been increased in over 10 years, and recommends that a review be done.

Coldstream staff recommended the district work with Vernon and the RDNO to review the fares in mid-2026.

It was noted that fare reviews have been done in multiple communities across the province recently, including in Kelowna which resulted in the fee for riding the bus increasing from $2.50 to $3 per trip.
