The Butt Road and Old Okanagan Highway improvement project in West Kelowna continues to progress smoothly.

City officials confirm to Vernon Matters that recent work has included a city water main upgrade, construction of retaining walls and driveway tie-ins, and asphalt placement along Old Okanagan Highway toward Chieftain Road.

“The project has been progressing extremely well and remains both on time and on budget,” said Ashley Stewart, communications manager for the City of West Kelowna.

Upcoming work will focus on Westbank First Nation water main tie-ins, remaining utility work, and the completion of traffic light installations.

Stewart added, “A final completion date will be provided in a future update following confirmation from BC Hydro, whose scheduled work is a critical factor in setting a firm opening date.”

Officials said most construction is expected to wrap up this fall, though some boulevard and landscaping work may extend into spring depending on weather and utility coordination.
