Blowing snow advisory issued for Okanagan Connector overnight

Oct 28, 2025 | 9:35 AM

Drivers travelling the Okanagan Connector between Merritt and Kelowna should prepare for hazardous conditions overnight, as Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow advisory. Visibility is expected to drop to 800 metres or less due to strong gusty crosswinds and snowfall.

The agency warns that mountain weather can change quickly, and motorists should be ready to adjust their driving to changing road conditions. If visibility is poor, drivers are advised to slow down, watch for tail lights ahead, and be prepared to stop.

Blowing snow advisories are issued when winds are expected to reduce visibility to 800 metres or less for at least three hours. Motorists are encouraged to check road conditions at drivebc.ca, use winter tires or chains, and follow winter driving best practices.
