Kelowna formally launches free on-street parking program for Veterans
Kelowna has officially introduced a program offering complimentary on-street parking for vehicles displaying British Columbia Veterans licence plates.
The initiative, approved by city council on Sept. 29, recognizes the service and sacrifices of veterans and is timed ahead of Remembrance Day. Registered veterans will be able to park in time-restricted on-street spots at no charge, while posted limits remain in effect to ensure fair access.
Veterans can participate by completing a one-time registration with the city, providing their name, licence plate number and basic contact information.
“Recognizing veterans as a distinct category of on-street parking user reflects the city’s appreciation for their service,” a city spokesperson said.
