Vernon Creek Naturalization at Polson Park moving along

Oct 11, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Progress continues to be made on the Polson Park Vernon Creek Naturalization project.

A city staff report said the in-stream work was completed within the fish window, as regulated by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and bridge abutments have been installed.

The installation of both the vehicle and pedestrian bridges were scheduled to be done during the week of October 13-17.

The report also noted that floodplain construction, environmental planting, and irrigation installation is ongoing.

The project, which aims to improve fish habitat, enhance the natural environment, and reduce flood risks at the park, remains on track to be completed by the end of November.

The report will be presented to Vernon City Council for information at the regular meeting Tuesday, October 14.
