Suspected arson at West Kelowna motel

There has been more suspected fire-starting in West Kelowna.

RCMP responded to a report of a fire Tuesday evening 7:30 pm at a motel located in the 1600 block of Westgate Road. Police believe it was arson.

The suspect is described as a male wearing black pants, black sneakers, and with a transparent blue bag covering his head.

Officers immediately deployed a police dog and drone in an effort to track the suspect, but he was not located.

Last week two arrests were made in connection with some grass fires, although several others small fires were still under investigation.

In a media release Wednesday regarding the fire at the motel, Cpl. Devon Gerrits, Media Relations Officer with the West Kelowna RCMP, said ” we take these matters very seriously and are actively working to identify the individual responsible.”
