The Township of Spallumcheen is supporting residents taking actions to protect their properties from fires.

The township launched its 2025 FireSmart Rebate Program Tuesday, Sept. 16, which will provide homeowners with rebates of up to $5,000 for approved FireSmart activities on their properties.

In order to access the rebates people will need to get their properties assessed, create a work plan and have it approved by the FireSmart Coordinator or a Wildfire Mitigation Specialist, do the work on their property, and then apply for the funding. Residents can contact Spallumcheen’s FireSamrt coordinator at FireSmart@spallumcheentwp.bc.ca to learn more about the program and how to access the rebates.

The rebates will cover up to 50 per cent of the work done on properties, up to a maximum of $5,000. People can apply for the rebates until October 31, or until all the funds are fully allocated.
