Glenmore Protective Services Campus to break ground in Kelowna

Sep 15, 2025 | 11:09 AM

Construction is set to begin on the Glenmore Protective Services Campus, a project that will provide a new home for Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) and a modern fire hall for the Kelowna Fire Department (KFD).

City officials, the Regional District of Central Okanagan and COSAR will mark the milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at 2335 and 2355 John Hindle Drive. The event runs from 10 a.m. to noon and will include speeches, a media photo opportunity and a chance for questions.

The campus will feature a permanent facility for COSAR, addressing long-standing issues at its current site, including limited washrooms, water problems and pest concerns. The project also includes a new fire hall, a dispatch centre and a training facility for KFD.

Kelowna Fire Chief Dwight Seymour said the dispatch centre will serve as a fully operational backup, ensuring continuity if the current centre on Enterprise Road becomes unavailable.

The $49-million development is funded through the City of Kelowna, the provincial Growing Communities Fund, and a $6-million contribution from the Barry Lapointe Foundation.

The Glenmore campus aims to enhance emergency response capabilities in the region while providing modern facilities for volunteer and professional emergency services personnel.
