CCMA’s to take over Kelowna all week
Kelowna is preparing to welcome the nation’s top country music stars as the Canadian Country Music Association Awards (CCMA Awards) and Country Music Week take over the city from Sept. 10 to 13. The week-long celebration will feature artist activations, family-friendly events, outdoor concerts and more.
Mayor Tom Dyas said the city is proud to showcase Kelowna on the national stage.
“After a multi-year process to bring the CCMA Awards here, Kelowna is set to come alive with concerts and celebrations across the city, delivering a welcome boost to our local economy during the shoulder season,” he said.
Local artists were invited to pitch immersive art installations for the event, including a life-sized sketchbook depicting a day in the life of a country music performer and Lime scooters outfitted with horseheads. Chris Babcock, Kelowna’s event development manager, said staff have been busy on logistics, decorating the city and engaging businesses to create a memorable visitor experience while providing opportunities for the broader community to get involved.
