A second wildfire in the past 24 hours in the North Okanagan has sparked, although this one – in the Turtle Mountain area – was very small compared to the much bigger, serious blaze which is out of control near Lavington.

BC Wildfire Service said the fire was measured at 0.1 hectares and categorized as Being Held.

“B.C. Wildfire Service crews responded quickly, and Vernon Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) crews are actively working to contain the fire within established control lines,” the City of Vernon said, adding there was no threat to structures, but the situation was being monitored.
