Glass, flexible plastic recycling coming to Central Okanagan curbside pickup in 2026
Central Okanagan residents will soon have more options at the curb when it comes to recycling.
Starting in May 2026, households with curbside collection will be able to recycle non-refundable glass bottles and jars, along with flexible plastics such as chip bags, crinkly wrappers, zipper-lock pouches and bubble wrap.
To make the change possible, each home will receive two new boxes — a grey one for glass and a pink one for plastics.
The expansion is part of the region’s transition to Recycle BC managing curbside recycling. The Regional District of Central Okanagan says the new system will make recycling more convenient while keeping costs under control and reducing contamination.
