IPE Parking Options

Pilot project aims to improve parking in Armstrong during IPE

People living in and visiting Armstrong will see more parking options available during the annual agricultural show and midway.

The Armstrong Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce (ASCC), in partnership with the City of Armstrong, will launch a Pilot Parking Project in conjunction with the Interior Provincial Exhibition (IPE).

The pilot will see parking enhanced with more spaces on Pleasant Valley Blvd., Pleasant Valley Road, and Okanagan Road, in an effort to support the residents and roughly 100,000 visitors attending the IPE, which will run from August 27 to 31. This is intended to take the pressure of Armstrong city centre’s parking and leave them open for downtown patrons and people with appointments.

“This project is about making sure our downtown remains open and accessible for local customers during one of the busiest weeks of the year,” Marc Szarek, President of ASCC, said.

“By encouraging fair-goers to use designated parking lots, we’re supporting our businesses and ensuring residents can still access services they rely on.”

The parking pilot will only run over the days of the IPE, and signage will be installed in the areas to remind visitors about the parking designations.

“Armstrong businesses are the heartbeat of our community,” Patti Noonan, Executive Director, of the ASCC.

“This pilot project is a proactive way to balance the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors during IPE week.”
