YLW adds new direct East Kootenay flight

Aug 6, 2025 | 1:15 PM

A new flight is coming that will directly link Kelowna International Airport with the East Kootenay.

The Pacific Coastal Airlines flight from YLW to Cranbrook will be daily, seven days a week.

The 55-minute journey will use a 19-seat Beechcraft 1900 aircraft.

The route will bolster business, leisure and healthcare travel, starting October 27.

Sunday to Friday it will depart Cranbrook at 9:00 a.m. arriving in Kelowna at 8:55 a.m., given the one-hour time difference. It will then make the return trip to the East Kootenay leaving Kelowna at 17:35 and arriving Cranbrook 19:30.

On Saturdays it will leave Cranbrook for Kelowna at 11:00 a.m. and return at 15:40.

A media release from YLW Wednesday said Pacific Coastal Airlines has been a trusted airline partner with the airport for the past 12 years, bringing multiple regional destinations to Okanagan residents.

The new route to Cranbrook is another example of the airline’s commitment to serving the needs and interests of the local community and the important role that YLW plays as a regional transport hub.

This upcoming winter, Pacific Coastal has doubled their flights into Nanaimo with twice daily service. With this increase, connectivity from Cranbrook will be possible to Nanaimo, Comox, Victoria and Prince George.
