Chute Lake Road closing for roundabout construction
Chute Lake Road in Kelowna will be fully closed to vehicle traffic between Barnaby Road and South Crest Drive starting Tuesday, Aug. 6, as construction crews move into the final phases of work on the Frost Road extension and a new roundabout.
The closure is expected to last about two months. According to the City of Kelowna, closing the road completely will allow the project to be completed more quickly, safely and at a lower cost.
Drivers will be detoured via Lakeshore Road or Barnaby Road. A temporary pathway will be in place to allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely pass through the construction zone. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the project.
The roundabout and extension are designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety and expand transportation options in the area. The project also includes new sidewalks, a multi-use pathway, street lighting and upgrades to water and storm utilities.
