Bond’s Big Break
Okanagan Sun’s Jacob Bond makes CFL debut
Jul 14, 2025 | 1:09 PM
Okanagan Sun standout Jacob Bond took a major step forward in his football journey over the weekend, making his CFL debut with the BC Lions in a game against the Edmonton Elks.
The Kamloops native and South Kamloops Secondary graduate was elevated from the Lions’ practice roster ahead of the game and suited up for his first-ever appearance at the professional level.
While he didn’t record any stats in his debut, just cracking the lineup is a significant milestone for the 6-3, 225-pound linebacker.
Bond’s call-up comes on the heels of an impressive season with the Okanagan Sun in the Canadian Junior Football League, where he was a force on defence and earned All-Canadian honours for his standout play.
