Kelowna child care costs among highest in Canada

A new study shows Kelowna has some of Canada’s highest child care costs.

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives ranked Kelowna fifth out of 35 major cities, with a median daily fee of $24 per child as of April.

The report also notes the federal government’s goal to introduce $10-a-day child care by 2026 is unlikely to be met.

While Kelowna was fifth highest, four other B.C. cities including Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver, and Burnaby charge even more.
