Hiker airlifted with serious injuries after rescue at Fintry Provincial Park
One person was seriously injured and airlifted to safety Monday evening following a rescue at the base of a canyon in Fintry Provincial Park.
West Kelowna Fire Rescue says crews were called around 7 p.m. to assist the North Westside Fire Department with two stranded hikers at the bottom of the waterfalls.
Firefighters found one hiker with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. That person was winched approximately 180 feet to safety by a Search and Rescue helicopter and later taken to Kelowna General Hospital by B.C. Emergency Health Services.
The second hiker was not injured and was escorted out of the canyon on foot.
