Water Supply Update

Local water levels normal heading into July

Jul 2, 2025 | 10:18 AM

Greater Vernon Water is not seeing any issues in the local water supply.

A July 2025 Water Supply report to the Greater Vernon Advisory Committee says the storage levels are within the normal zone even though rainfall was below average for April, May and June.

It noted that water use for agricultural purposes was high at the start of June, but that usage decreased due to cooler, wetter weather. Customer demand in June was also typical for the month, though an increase is expected due to low precipitation and increased temperatures.

As of July 2, GVW had normal watering restrictions in place, meaning people can water their lawns in the morning and evening.

However, GVW said the hot, dry weather in the forecast could lead to further restrictions being put in place. It suggested people look at ways to redue their water use ahead of those restrictions being issued.
