Grand opening set for Peachland to West Kelowna multi-use trail
A new multi-use trail connecting Peachland to West Kelowna will be officially unveiled Friday, June 20, during a grand opening ceremony.
Local officials and invited guests will gather for a ribbon-cutting at the Talking Circle located along the trail. The public is welcome to attend the celebration, although parking is limited. Attendees are encouraged to park along Beach Avenue and walk or cycle via Buchanan Road and Robinson Place. For easier access, parking is available near the Goat’s Peak Park entrance on Seclusion Bay Road, or at the top of Drought Road if travelling from Peachland.
The trail, which has been open since May, was built with support from the B.C. Active Transportation Infrastructure Grants Program and the federal Communities’ Active Transportation Fund. Funding included $920,200 from the province and $356,400 from the federal government.
The route features off-street paths and a neighbourhood bikeway along Drought Road, stretching from Robinson Lane to Goat’s Peak Park via an underpass beneath Highway 97. It forms part of a broader plan to develop a 250-kilometre active transportation network linking communities across the Okanagan Valley—from Sicamous to Osoyoos.
