New childcare centre coming to Landmark District

May 30, 2025 | 6:00 AM

Some positive news for families looking for much-needed and rare, child care spaces in Kelowna.

The YMCA , in partnership with the Stober Group, is set to open a modern facility later in the year in the Landmark District.

The Landmark YMCA Child Care Centre will have 53 licensed spaces for children 0–5 years old including infant toddler care.

According to a media release, up to 1,100 families are seeking childcare services and more than 1,500 new spaces are required in the Central Okanagan by 2030 to meet growing demand.

The new spaces come after an investment of more than $2.4 million from the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund, which is jointly supported by provincial investments and federal funding provided under the 2021-22 to 2025-2026 Canada-British Columbia Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. The deal was recently extended to 2030-2031.

Details on how to register for the wait list can be found here.
