Accessibility improvements for Kal Beach

Kalamalka Beach has been made more accessible just in time for swimming season.

The District of Coldstream has installed Mobi-mats at the park, allowing people with mobility challenges to more easily access the beach, water, pier, washrooms and concession stand.

The mats were installed Tuesday, May 27, following a request made by the Rotary Clubs in August of 2024, which was supported by the inter-municipal accessibility advisory committee.

The overhead Rotary sign at the Kal Beach pier was also replaced with an engraved stone sign on the beach.

The Rotary Clubs have also proposed installing a permanent display detailing the history of Rotary and the pier. The format and wording of that display will be considered during consultation for the North Kalamalka Beach area plan at a future date.
