Cental Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) were involved in two concurrent and successful missions Sunday night, May 25, including one involving the rescue of a dog which had become stranded on a cliff.

The drama unfolded near Oyama Lookout amid strong winds, thunder and lightning.

In a social media post, COSAR said a dog walker had managed to self-rescue, but her pet was stranded.

Despite difficult weather and a very skittish pup, the rope team of 12, including two techs from Vernon Search and Rescue, successfully brought the dog to safety and reunited her with her owner. The dog was taken to a vet for a precautionary check-up.
