Grant funding will make sure Active Living Centre is Net Zero ready
Vernon’s new recreation hub will be prepared for the future thanks to some outside funding.
The City of Vernon has received a grant of $444,951 through B.C. Hydro’s Power Smart Commercial New Construction Incentive Program to upgrade the electrical system in the new Active Living Centre and make it Net Zero Ready.
Speaking with Vernon Matters, Mayor Victor Cumming said this will allow the new facility to mainly run on electricity.
“There will be natural gas there, it will be used for mostly heating the pool, but in the meantime we will have ended up with a really good electrical system,” Cumming said following the council meeting on Monday, May 26.
